Atherton Bikes ha finalmente annunciato la sua tanto attesa bici da trail, l'AM.130. Come la bici all-mountain AM.150 e la bici DH AM.200M, la nuova bici Atherton con escursione da 130 mm è assemblata con tubi in carbonio e alette in titanio, queste ultime realizzate utilizzando l'affascinante processo di produzione additiva. Il modello di business su misura offre al marchio la flessibilità necessaria per offrire un approccio molto più completo alle taglie. Di conseguenza, l'AM.130 è disponibile in non meno di ventidue dimensioni.

Ci sono anche due modelli tra cui scegliere. L'AM.130 ha una forcella con escursione di 140 mm che offre un angolo di sterzo di 65,5 gradi, mentre l'AM.130.X è aumentato a una forcella da 150 mm e di conseguenza ha un angolo di sterzo leggermente più lento di 65 gradi.

Tutta la progettazione, lo sviluppo e gran parte della produzione avviene presso il quartier generale di Atherton Bikes a Machynlleth, nel Galles, a breve distanza in auto dal Dyfi Bike Park di Dan Atherton e alla portata di centinaia di chilometri di sentieri naturali tagliati a mano su cui è stata testata questa bici.

L'AM.130 è una 29er completa concepita come una bici da trail tuttofare, abbastanza leggera ed efficiente per le grandi giornate pedalando da una vetta all'altra, ma abbastanza robusta e di supporto per i giri in bike park. Pertanto, il telaio in carbonio-titanio ha superato tutti i più severi test EFBE Cat 4 (Enduro) e Cat 5 (Downhill) e viene venduto con una garanzia a vita che si estende solo al primo proprietario.

"Abbiamo deciso di progettare una bici che offrisse una guida super divertente qualunque sia il terreno. L'AM130 affronta i terreni più difficili e tecnici con il suo passo, ma è comunque super giocoso su un percorso più dolce. Siamo tornati al tavolo da disegno con la costruzione delle alette, spogliando abbiamo tirato fuori ancora più materiale laddove non contribuiva direttamente alla robustezza della bici, il che rende la guida più leggera e una fantastica manovrabilità in salita; ma questa bici scende comunque come un Atherton: è la combinazione perfetta per una grande avventura o un'esplosione in giro boschi locali." – Dan Brown, amministratore delegato di Atherton Bikes.

L'AM.130 offre l'escursione della ruota posteriore attraverso una piattaforma di sospensione progettata in collaborazione con il prolifico Dave Weagle; il collegamento DW6 ha un layout a 6 barre, una versione simile del quale può essere vista sui telai da corsa più lunghi di Atherton.
